December 26 - January 1

New England Patriots


On January 1st, the New England Patriots wrapped up their regular season with a 49-21 victory over the Buffalo Bills. The Pats started slow, falling behind 21-0 before scoring 49 straight points to end the season with a record of 13-3. Their 13-3 record is good enough to give them the #1 seed and home-field advantage throughout th AFC playoffs.
The offense was led by quarterback Tom Brady and tight end Rob Gronkowski. Brady threw for 338 yards and 3 touchdowns and finished the year with 5,235 yards passing, which is the second most yards passing in NFL history. Gronkowski set the NFL single season record for tight ends with 1,327 yards receiving after catching 8 balls for 108 yards and 2 touchdowns.
The other Patriots touchdowns were scored by BenJarvus Green-Ellis (2), Aaron Hernandez and Sterling Moore.

December 26 - January 1

Boston Celtics
On December 27th, the Boston Celtics took on the defending Eastern Conference champions the Miami Heat. After being down early, the Celtics fought back in the fourth quarter but it wasn't enough as the Heat held on to win 115-107. Rajon Rondo had another big night for the C's, scoring 22 points, grabbing 8 rebounds and dishing out 12 assists. Ray Allen led the Celtics with 28 points. 

On December 28th, the Celtics were defeated 97-78 by the New Orleans Hornets. Once again Ray Allen (15 points) and Rajon Rondo (13 points) were the only bright spots for the C's. This is the first time the Celtics have started the season 0-3 since the 2006-2007 season.

On December 30th, the Boston Celtics earned their first victory of the season with a 96-85 win over the Detroit Pistons. Center Jermaine O'Neal led Boston with 19 points while Captain Paul Pierce scored 12 points in his first game back from a leg injury.

On January 1st, Rajon Rondo had a triple double with 18 points, 14 assists and 11 rebounds and Kevin Garnett had 24 points to lead the Boston Celtics to a 94-86 win over the Washington Wizards. The C's are now 2-3 on the season.

December 26 - January 1

Boston Bruins


On December 28th, Dennis Seidenberg scored 58 seconds into overtime to give the Boston a 2-1 win over the Phoenix Coyotes. David Krejci scored the other goal while backup goalie Tuukka Rask continued his great play stopping 21 of the 22 shots he faced.



On December 31, the Dallas Stars ended Boston's seven-game winning streak by the score of 4-2. Tyler Seguin and Milan Lucic scored for Boston, while Tim Thomas stopped 23 shots.

December 26 - January 1

Boston Red Sox

On December 28th, the Boston Red Sox completed a trade with the Oakland Athletics to acquire two time All-Star closer Andrew Bailey and Outfielder Ryan Sweeney in exchange for Outfielder Josh  Reddick and prospects Miles Head and Raul Alcantara.

Bailey, the American League Rookie of the Year in 2009, is coming off an injury shortened season where he he recorded 24 saves in only 42 games. The right-handed pitcher has pitched in 157 games throughout his career and has notched 133 saves. He has a lifetime 2.07 ERA.

The left-handed hitting Sweeney hit .265 with 1 homer and 25 RBIs last year as a utility outfielder.

December 19 - December 25

New England Patriots

On December 20th, the New England Patriots announced that DE Andre Carter would miss the remainder of the season with a leg injury. This is a big blow to the Patriots defense as Carter was having an impressive season  registering 59 tackles and 10 sacks.
On December 24th, the New England Patriots overcame a 17 point deficit to beat the Miami Dolphins 27-24. The Patriots offense bounced back from being shutout in the half half by scoring 5 times ( 3 touchdowns, 2 field goals) in the second half. Tom Brady led the attack passing for 304 yards and a touchdown to go along with 2 rushing scores. Deion Branch was on the receiving end of Brady's lone touchdown pass and Steven Gostkowski kicked 2 field goals. With this win the Patriots clinched a first round playoff bye.

December 19 - December 25

Boston Celtics

On December 25th, the Celtics opened up their 2011-2012 season against the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden. The C's, playing without star player Paul Pierce, came up just short as they were defeated 104-102. Rajon Rondo led the Celtics attack with 31 points, 5 rebounds, 13 assists and 5 steals.  Newly acquired Brandon Bass also had a good game pouring in 20 points and adding 11 rebounds.
