On December 28th, the Boston Red Sox completed a trade with the Oakland Athletics to acquire two time All-Star closer Andrew Bailey and Outfielder Ryan Sweeney in exchange for Outfielder Josh Reddick and prospects Miles Head and Raul Alcantara.Bailey, the American League Rookie of the Year in 2009, is coming off an injury shortened season where he he recorded 24 saves in only 42 games. The right-handed pitcher has pitched in 157 games throughout his career and has notched 133 saves. He has a lifetime 2.07 ERA.
The left-handed hitting Sweeney hit .265 with 1 homer and 25 RBIs last year as a utility outfielder.
